The Blue Ridge Road Runners will host the annual 5K race series in Gypsy Hill Park (open to all ages) as well as the "Cross Country Run for Fun" races for elementary age children (Kindergarten through 5th grade only).

Race Highlights:
The fifth annual Dog Days 5K featured not only a repeat champion in the women’s race but also the youngest-ever champion in the men’s race. A total of 71 finishers completed the final event in the spring-and-summer 5K race series in Gypsy Hill Park on Saturday morning.

Race Highlights:
Traditionally, local 5K road racing has been dominated by men in their teens and early twenties, and the annual Firecracker 5K has been no exception. During four of the past five years, the race winner has been 21 or younger. But on Saturday morning it was the veterans who delivered the noteworthy performances at the Blue Ridge Road Runners’ sixth annual Firecracker 5K in Gypsy Hill Park. A total of 197 competitors finished the two-and-a-third laps that comprised the 3.1-mile race.

Race Highlights and Pictures:
A soggy Saturday morning hardly dampened the spirits of local runners who showed in record numbers for the March Madness 5K. Despite steady rain throughout the morning, 64 total finishers—the most ever— completed the two-and-one-third laps of Gypsy Hill Park for the opening event of the spring and summer 5K race series hosted by the Blue Ridge Road Runners.

Race Highlights:
With temperatures in the upper 50’s making running a bit more comfortable than usual for an Independence Day morning, 190 finishers completed the two-and-one-third laps of Gypsy Hill Park in Saturday’s 10th annual Firecracker 5K. Competitors ranged in age from 70-year-old Henry Wood to 4-year-old Logan Mayhew, and several award winners came from outside Virginia.
